School of Life Skills<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\t\t\t

The School of Life Skills (SLS) implements and evaluates life skills programs in different ages and contexts.\nSLS is based on the work produced by the research group Adaptation, Performance, and Human Development<\/a>. This group is part of the Psychology Research Centre, from the University of Minho's School of Psychology, and integrates the Health, Well-being, and Performance Lab.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Life Skills<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\n\t

\n\t\tLife skills encompass human potentialities that can be stimulated through systematic training or that are developed \"implicitly\" from people's everyday experiences, allowing human adaptation to changing events.\n\t<\/p>\n\t

\nFor example, people may learn to set goals in order to keep motivated for a given activity, but this life skill can then be used in other areas, helping people to remain motivated in daily life. (See more)<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\t\tToday, there is no doubt that life skills and psychological factors exert an important role in human development and in the performance of individuals, teams, and organizations. These effects are transversal to different contexts (e.g., business, sports, arts, health, and education).\n\t<\/p>

\nIn fact, life skills training can be an excellent proposal when the objective is to enhance people's abilities, be it at the individual level (e.g., how they manage their time), the interpersonal level (e.g., how they relate with others), or even at the group and organizational levels (e.g., how they work as a team).\n\t<\/p>

\nContrary to popular belief, these skills are sensitive to specific training and do not only stem from each person\u2019s personal, professional, and social development opportunities throughout their lives. That is, if the goal is to stimulate and consolidate life skills in each individual, team, and organization, then the implementation of intervention programs is critical.\n\t<\/p>

\nThe maximization of life skills learning depends on the existence of the training plans that are adapted to each situation and duly evaluated in terms of efficacy.\n\t<\/p>

\nThe School of Life Skills seeks to answer this challenge!\n\t<\/p>
